How do I screen the developers for quality?

We provide two main ways to screen developers on HireFast. The first is using a candidate's HireFast score. To learn more about how the HireFast score works, we recommend checking out How Are the Developers in my Search Sorted? and What is HireFast?

The second way to determine the quality of a candidate is by checking their Smart Summaries. Smart Summaries are a collection of short non-technical summaries that HireFast generates for each candidate. These summaries are generated when HireFast finds real proof that the candidate has demonstrated the skill in their code.

We look for skills that prove the developer has a practical coding mindset. Positions are increasingly becoming language agonstistic and therefore we prefer developers who demonstrate a practical skill set that is used everyday on the job rather than developers who are fluent in theoretical concepts. We try to make these summaries as synonymous to job descriptions as possible to make a candidate's background easy to understand.

HireFast always guarantees that when you're searching our platform, the developers will always be sorted from the most skilled to the least. To confirm this, you can open up the candidate modal for a candidate by clicking their name.

We will sort the candidates by default based on their overall HireFast score. However, you can tailor this behavior by searching for specific technologies. If a technology is included in the search, whether AI, boolean, or with a filter, the person's Hirefast score for the category will be highlighted in green.

Hirefast has support for two types of search currently. The Ai search allows you to use natural language to filter candidates. It is a very straightforward and convenient approach.

The AI search allows you to save time and forgo the tedious booleans and conditional statements:

The Boolean search is a more fine grained approach that allows you to search using conditionals and boolean strings. Our Syntax is a little different than what you may be used to, however.

Currently the supported conditionals are Technologies, Proximity, and City. AND and OR operators are also supported.

Creating your own search strings not your thing? Try our filters to search for a pool of candidates that meet your requirements. Specify city, technologies, skills - Nice to Have or Must have. We are constantly working on adding more filters.
